Fotona Ablative Micro Coring

Balancing results with shorter recovery times is an important focus for OLA Aesthetics. With Fotona fractionally ablative Micro Laser Coring, we don’t have to treat the entire surface of the skin to make a difference. This treatment only affects a portion of the skin while leaving the rest untouched.

We make sure every treatment is approached with attention to detail and with a personalised touch. With Micro Laser Coring, we can treat the skin concerns that most bother you to support healthier and firmer skin.

A Note From Dr Aleks

What I appreciate most about the Fotona Dynamis Nx Line is its versatility. It gives us the ability to select the exact treatment mode that best supports each person’s skin goals. Micro Coring is one of the technologies within this platform that I reach for when I want to improve texture, fine lines, or areas of laxity while preserving the skin’s natural structure.

My approach is grounded in enhancing what already defines you rather than changing it. By stimulating the skin’s natural repair and collagen-building processes, treatments like Micro Coring help your skin to do what it already does best—healing and renewing itself. With this extra support, your skin can become firmer over a series of sessions.

What Is Fotona Ablative Micro Coring?

Fotona Micro Laser Coring is a fractional laser treatment that resurfaces the skin and stimulates collagen renewal. This method targets small, controlled areas and creates microscopic zones of ablation surrounded by intact skin.

This treatment can address fine lines, rough texture, mild laxity, and an uneven tone. Because the energy is fractional, it offers surface treatment and deeper dermal stimulation and is less aggressive than lasers that remove the entire surface of the skin.

We can treat different areas with Micro Laser Coring, including the face, neck, chest, and more. It is suitable for ageing skin, sagging skin and skin that has been damaged by the sun.

How Does Fotona Micro Coring Work?

Fotona Micro Coring uses the precision of the F-Runner scanner to deliver Er:YAG laser energy in a controlled pattern across the skin. It targets the water in the skin and vaporises it to create thousands of tiny ablation zones about 250 micrometres wide.

Once it creates these microcolumns, your body increases fibroblast activity in the area and starts to repair your skin. These cells produce new collagen and elastin to improve firmness and structure in the dermis.

The pulse technology on the handpiece also creates a thermal effect, which stimulates even more collagen production, even in the areas that have not been ablated. We can adjust the depth of the treatment based on the results we are working towards.

The OLA Experience

Consultation

Your Fotona Micro Coring treatment begins with a consultation with Dr Aleks or Dr Indi. We will ask questions so we can get to know your skin concerns, review your medical history, and assess whether a fractional ablative treatment is a suitable option. We will explain how the technology works in more detail and let you know what to expect during each stage.

Preparation

You will not need to worry about complicated pre-treatment instructions with Fotona Micro Laser Coring. However, we will provide you with any specific instructions during your consultation to help prepare your skin for the procedure. This may include pausing the use of active ingredients such as retinoids or exfoliants in your skincare, avoiding recent sun exposure, and keeping your skin hydrated leading up to your treatment. You may also need to stop certain supplements or medications that can increase bruising, bleeding, or sensitivity.

Treatment

We may apply a topical anaesthetic to reduce sensation and make your treatment more comfortable. You may feel a tingling sensation or warmth during the treatment. The Fotona device is also equipped with CoolMist technology to reduce discomfort. Your session may last 30-60 minutes, depending on the treatment area.

At OLA Aesthetics, every treatment plan begins with understanding your skin. We only recommend treatments we believe will provide meaningful benefit, selecting technologies and settings that best suit your situation. Treatments are chosen and performed with careful judgement, clinical precision, and respect for the natural qualities of your skin.

What Is the Average Downtime and Recovery?

After Fotona Micro Coring, your skin may look red and may be swollen and tender for 24-48 hours. You may start to notice scabs, peeling or flaking after several days, and the surface will generally recover within a week. You can apply makeup once any visible peeling has subsided and your skin feels calm. Make sure to follow any specific instructions that we give you on the day of your treatment.

Sun protection and gentle cleansing and moisturising will be important as your skin heals. Your skin will be more sensitive, so stay away from any extreme heat, aggressive exfoliation, or direct UV exposure.

What Results Can I Expect From My Fotona Micro Coring Treatment?

It can take several weeks to start seeing changes in skin texture and firmness. As new collagen and elastin form, you may start to see early results. We may recommend a series of three or more sessions, spaced about four or five weeks apart. Each session builds on the last, and you should start to see your full results several weeks after the last treatment in the series. Results vary based on the situation, skin type and more.
