Skin Tag Removal

Skin tags are small, soft growths that often appear in areas where skin rubs against skin or clothing. Although they are harmless, some people choose to remove them for cosmetic or comfort reasons. At OLA Aesthetics, we offer noninvasive and minimally invasive skin tag removal services that rid you of unwanted growths quickly and permanently.

A Note From Dr Aleks

I’m often asked whether it’s safe to remove skin tags at home. I completely understand the temptation — they can be annoying, and DIY methods you read about online might seem quick and easy. But the truth is, at-home removal can lead to more problems than solutions.

Skin tags are attached by a small stalk of tissue that contains blood vessels. If they're not taken care of by a professional, you risk bleeding, infection, scarring or even mistaking a more serious skin condition for a harmless growth. In a medical setting like OLA Aesthetics, we can safely and precisely remove skin tags using sterile techniques that protect your skin’s health and appearance.

What Are Skin Tags?

Skin tags (acrochordons) are small flaps of flesh-toned or slightly darker tissue that hang off the skin. They're made up of normal skin cells and connective tissue and are benign, meaning they're not cancerous and don’t pose any medical risk.

Most often, skin tags develop in areas where skin rubs against itself or clothing, like the underarms, groin or under the breasts. Some people only ever have one or two, while others develop clusters over time.

What Is Skin Tag Removal?

We offer several techniques for skin tag removal, depending on the size, location and number of tags present. These include:

  • Cryotherapy (Freezing): The skin tag is frozen with a controlled burst of cold, causing it to fall off naturally
  • Cauterisation: A medical heat source is used to burn off the skin tag and seal the skin
  • Excision: A sterile instrument is used to gently clip away the skin tag at its base

All methods are quick, low-discomfort and performed by our doctors. Most skin tags are removed in a single session with no downtime.

The OLA Experience

Consultation

During your consultation, your doctor will examine the growths to confirm they are skin tags and rule out any other concerns that may need attention. They will explain the different removal options available to you and help you make a suitable choice.

Preparation

Skin tag removal doesn’t require any major preparation. You will receive clear, easy-to-follow instructions that may include avoiding shaving the treatment area and avoiding applying lotions, oils or makeup to the area on the day of treatment.

Treatment

Each technique we offer is intended to remove the skin tag quickly while protecting the healthy tissue around it. Most removals take less than 30 minutes and don’t require downtime. We apply a numbing cream or local anaesthetic first so you are comfortable.

What Is the Average Downtime and Recovery?

Most people need little to no downtime after skin tag removal. You might notice some mild redness, swelling or a small scab where the tag was removed, but this usually settles within a few days. Keep the area clean and avoid picking at any scabs.

What Results Can I Expect From Skin Tag Removal?

In most cases, the skin returns to its natural texture and tone with little to no visible scarring. The old skin tag will not grow back, and a new skin tag is unlikely to appear in the same spot.
