When moles and other skin lesions appear in visible areas such as the face or neck, you might be hesitant to have them removed due to scarring or pigmentation changes. While outdated techniques are more likely to cause visible scarring, newer methods can minimise this risk.
At OLA Aesthetics, we offer scarless removal of moles, skin tags, small cysts, milia and sebaceous hyperplasia. These procedures are performed using advanced technology that allows for effective removal without obvious scarring or damage to the surrounding skin.

What Is Scarless Mole Removal?
Scarless removal of benign moles and other skin lesions is a common procedure offered by OLA Aesthetics. Performed using advanced techniques that significantly reduce the risk of visible scarring, these procedures are quick, effective and require almost no downtime.
Dr Aleks and Dr Indi are trained in skin cancer medicine and perform skin checks before removing any moles. Both doctors are highly experienced in performing scarless removal of benign moles, as well as surgical excisions of suspicious moles or skin lesions.
What Types of Lesions Can Be Removed?
- Moles: Moles, also known as beauty marks, are a type of skin growth that can be raised or flat and vary in colour from pink to brown or even black. While most moles are benign, some may be atypical or suspicious and may require surgical excision.
- Skin Tags: Skin tags are small, harmless growths that can appear on the skin. They are usually found in areas where the skin rubs together or against clothing, such as the armpits, neck and groin.
- Cysts: Cysts are sacs or pockets of tissue that can form under the skin. They are typically filled with fluid but can also contain solid material. At OLA Aesthetics, we offer scarless removal of cysts using advanced techniques.
- Milia: Milia are white or yellowish bumps that can appear on the skin. They are caused by trapped skin cells and are commonly found around the eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Sebaceous Hyperplasia: Sebaceous hyperplasia is a common skin condition that results in small, yellow or flesh-coloured bumps on the skin. These bumps are caused by overactive oil glands and are most commonly found on the face.
- Seborrheic Keratosis: Seborrheic keratoses are a common noncancerous skin growth that frequently develop on older adults. They appear as round or oval lesions that are slightly raised, with a waxy or scaly texture.
The OLA Experience
Consultation
At OLA Aesthetics, every new patient will have a private meeting with Dr Aleks or Dr Indi. This gives you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have and us to determine if this treatment is suitable for you. During your consultation, your skin will be thoroughly assessed, the procedure will be explained in detail and you’ll be given pre- and post-care instructions.

Preparation
Little to no preparation is required before undergoing scarless mole removal. Our doctors may recommend discontinuing certain skincare products or medications to ensure a safe and effective treatment — these steps will be discussed in more detail during your consultation.

Treatment
Your treatment will be performed at our clinic in West Perth. Scarless mole removal is virtually painless — depending on the device used, our doctors may administer local anaesthesia to minimise any potential discomfort. You can expect your appointment to take 15-30 minutes to complete, after which you’ll be able to return home and resume all normal activities.

What Is the Average Downtime and Recovery?
Scarless mole removal typically results in little to no downtime, as our techniques eliminate lesions without damaging the surrounding skin. However, the treated area can take some time to heal after your procedure. Keep the wound covered and follow all aftercare guidelines provided by your doctor. Typically, a scab will form and fall off within one to two weeks.
What Results Can Scarless Mole Removal Achieve?
The results of your scarless removal will be immediate and mostly permanent. Moles and other lesions typically won’t grow back after being removed, but this can vary from patient to patient. Some growths, such as cysts and skin tags, are more likely to recur in the same or different areas — your doctor will discuss this risk with you during your initial consultation so you know what to expect. If necessary, a touch-up treatment can be performed to ensure lasting results.

Please note that before and after images show the outcomes of specific cases at varying time periods. Before and after photos illustrate outcomes from individual cases and are not a guarantee of specific results, as individual responses to treatments may vary based on factors such as genetics, lifestyle, and adherence to aftercare recommendations.
All medical, surgical, and minimally invasive procedures carry inherent risks and require appropriate recovery and aftercare. It is essential to consult with a qualified health practitioner to determine the most suitable treatment for your needs. We strongly encourage seeking a second opinion before proceeding with any procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions
Scarless mole removal doesn’t involve the use of sutures. If you have a suspicious mole or one that has grown deep into the skin and requires surgical excision or a biopsy, sutures or tape may be used to close the wound. During your consultation, Dr Aleks or Dr Indi will evaluate your skin and let you know what you can expect during the mole removal and healing process.
Scarless mole removal minimises the risk of visible scarring and is associated with few complications. However, as with any type of procedure, side effects can occur. Some of the potential symptoms of side effects you may experience include:
- Infection and scarring (rare)
- Bleeding (rare)
- Temporary pain in the treated area
- Redness that lasts for two to four weeks
- Itching and scabbing
- Incomplete removal of suspicious lesions; depending on the pathology and depth of any given lesion, your doctor may require one to two treatments for complete removal
Darkening of the skin (hyperpigmentation) can also occur. While rare, this reaction is more common when treated areas are exposed to the sun and usually resolves within one to six months. Lightening of the skin (hypopigmentation) can also develop as a delayed response to treatment — pale areas may regain pigment after several months, but it could be permanent. To minimise the risk of side effects, it’s important to follow all aftercare instructions and keep the removal site protected from the sun with a hat and sunscreen for at least six weeks.
Scarless mole removal is effective for many types of benign moles, particularly those that are small and raised. However, it is essential that moles are evaluated by Dr Aleks or Dr Indi during a private consultation to ensure they are suitable for this type of removal. Moles that are suspicious or potentially malignant may require a different approach.
Traditional mole removal involves cutting into the skin, which can leave a scar. Scarless mole removal uses advanced techniques such as radiofrequency or laser to minimise scarring by targeting the mole without harming the surrounding tissue, making it a preferred option for visible areas like the face or neck.
At OLA Aesthetics, your doctor will be able to provide you with an accurate cost estimate after evaluating your skin and discussing your treatment goals. We typically quote $350 for the first lesion removal, with each subsequent session costing $200.
Could Scarless Mole Removal Be Right for Me?
Determining if scarless mole removal is right for you depends on your needs, concerns and the characteristics of the unwanted lesion. This treatment option is generally suitable for individuals who are looking to remove small, benign growths without the risks of surgery or scarring.
During your private consultation with Dr Aleks or Dr Indi, we will evaluate the mole or lesion in question, considering factors such as its size, location and whether it has changed over time. We will also discuss your personal health history and any previous skin conditions to ensure that the treatment aligns with your overall health and aesthetic goals.
