If you're looking for a safe and effective birth control option, an intrauterine device (IUD) may be right for you. IUDs are small, T-shaped devices that are inserted into the uterus to prevent pregnancy.
At OLA Aesthetics, we offer contraception advice and UD insertion services to women who are interested in this long-acting form of contraception.

About IUD Insertion
We offer IUD insertion services, providing a range of options for women seeking birth control. Intrauterine devices (IUDs) are small, T-shaped devices that are inserted into the uterus to prevent pregnancy. We provide three main types: the copper IUD, Mirena® and Kyleena®.
Copper & Mirena®
The copper IUD is hormone-free, using copper to create an environment that is toxic to sperm and potentially preventing fertilisation for up to 10 years. The Mirena IUD releases small amounts of the hormone levonorgestrel, which thickens cervical mucus while thinning the uterine lining. This device can prevent pregnancy for up to eight years and may be recommended for women who are seeking other benefits, such as lighter periods. With Mirena, bleeding and spotting may increase at first with a possible decrease in the following months.
Kyleena®
Kyleena IUDs are a low-hormone option that also uses levonorgestrel to prevent pregnancy. This option lasts for up to five years and is smaller than Mirena for easier insertion, but is not used as a treatment for heavy periods.
What to Expect
During an IUD insertion, Dr Aleks will insert a small, T-shaped device into the uterus through the cervix. The device is made of soft, flexible plastic and is designed to prevent pregnancy by releasing either copper or hormones.
How IUDs Work
Copper IUDs being non-hormonal work by creating an environment that is toxic to sperm, while hormonal IUDs work by thickening cervical mucus and preventing ovulation.
