Skin Cancer Treatments

Skin Cancer Surgery

When detected early, certain types of skin cancer, such as basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma, can be treated through surgery. Our clinic performs skin cancer surgery to remove cancerous cells while preserving as much healthy tissue as possible.

One type of skin cancer surgery is excisional surgery, where the cancerous lesions and some healthy skin are carefully removed. Cryosurgery can be performed on some types of skin cancer, removing cancerous or precancerous tissue by freezing it with liquid nitrogen.

After surgery, we provide care to aid in your recovery, offering instructions on proper wound healing and monitoring for any signs of recurrence. You may have sensitivity around the treated area for a time after the procedure. Healing time is different for everyone but is typically complete within two weeks. It may take longer for any scarring to fade.

Skin Cancer Checks

Regular skin checks are essential for detecting potential skin cancers at their earliest and most treatable stages. During your skin check at OLA Aesthetics, our doctors perform a systematic examination of your skin from head to toe. We use advanced clinical imaging technology to closely examine any suspicious spots, documenting changes that may not be visible to the naked eye.

We assess existing moles, freckles and other skin lesions, as well as looking for any new or changing spots. If we identify any areas of concern, we can perform additional examinations or take biopsies as needed. Our doctors will also provide guidance on sun protection, self-examination techniques and how often you should schedule professional skin checks based on your individual risk factors.

Dermatoscopy

Dermatoscopy is a noninvasive examination technique that allows our doctors to evaluate skin lesions in detail. Using a specialised tool called a dermatoscope, we can examine skin structures that are not visible to the naked eye. This helps us make more accurate assessments of suspicious spots and lesions.

Dermatoscopy helps us monitor changes in skin lesions over time and can assist in the early detection of potential skin cancers. By documenting and comparing images of concerning spots, we can track any changes that might indicate the need for further investigation or treatment.

Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy uses extreme cold to remove certain skin lesions. During this procedure, liquid nitrogen is applied to the targeted area, freezing and destroying the abnormal tissue. The surrounding healthy skin is unaffected.

This treatment can be used for various skin concerns, including some precancerous lesions, warts and other benign growths. The procedure is typically brief, and while you may experience some mild discomfort, most patients find it tolerable.

After treatment, the affected area may blister and scab before healing over several days to weeks.
