Finding time for yourself can feel like a luxury. Modern life moves quickly, and many of us struggle to care for our skin as frequently as we’d like.
Alma ClearLift is a laser treatment designed for those who want to address concerns like fine lines, uneven texture, mild laxity and dull skin without days of recovery. The treatment works beneath the surface of your skin, leaving the outer layer intact so you can return to your routine with minimal disruption.
A Note From Dr Aleks
Not every concern requires a surgical or aggressive solution. When Dr Indi and I evaluate new technologies for the clinic, we often look for options that can deliver meaningful results without requiring patients to take too much time away from their busy lives. The ClearLift treatment from Alma Lasers fits in beautifully.
With Alma ClearLift, the work happens beneath the epidermis (the outer layer of your skin). Your skin's surface stays intact while the deeper layers receive the signal to produce fresh collagen. Because the outer layer isn’t treated, there is little to no downtime. The gentle nature of the treatment also allows us to treat delicate areas where more aggressive lasers would pose too much risk.

What Is Alma ClearLift?
ClearLift is a laser treatment performed using Alma’s Harmony platform. It delivers fractional Q-switched Nd:YAG laser energy beneath the surface of the skin while leaving the outer layer intact, a type of treatment known as “non-ablative”. An “ablative” treatment, on the other hand, removes the outermost layers of skin.
ClearLift is also a “fractional” treatment, meaning it affects only a portion of the skin with each pass. This leaves plenty of healthy, untreated skin left to jumpstart the healing process and ensure recovery time is minimal.
ClearLift can target uneven skin tone, mild laxity, fine lines and more without the downtime of lasers that remove the full surface of the skin. It is suitable for the face, neck and décolletage, including delicate areas around the eyes and mouth where aggressive treatments are often inappropriate.
How Does Alma ClearLift Work?
The Alma ClearLift laser stimulates a wound-healing response, which includes the production of collagen and remodelling of existing tissue structures. It is the same healing cascade that occurs after any wound, but because the skin surface remains intact, you skip the prolonged recovery associated with ablative laser resurfacing.
Collagen stimulation continues for weeks after the treatment, gradually firming and tightening the skin. The treatment depth and energy settings are adjustable. Your OLA Aesthetics provider will select the appropriate approach based on your aesthetic concerns and skin characteristics.
What Wavelengths Does the Alma ClearLift Laser Use?
A wavelength describes the type of light a laser produces. Different wavelengths penetrate to different depths and are absorbed by different targets within the skin (pigment, blood vessels or water, for example). A laser with access to multiple wavelengths can address a broader range of concerns than one limited to a single setting.
The ClearLift laser uses two wavelengths: 1064nm and 532nm.
1064 nm
This is the primary wavelength used for skin rejuvenation. It penetrates deeply to stimulate collagen production without damaging the skin surface. The 1064 nm wavelength is effective for:
- Melasma and Pigmentation: treating deeper pigmented lesions, including certain types of melasma and age spots, by creating a photo-acoustic effect that breaks down melanin
- Tattoo Removal: breaking down darker tattoo ink colors, such as black, blue and green
532nm
Adding a frequency-doubling tip to the system allows us to achieve this shorter wavelength, which targets more superficial concerns. The 532nm wavelength works well for:
- Melasma and Pigmentation: treating superficial pigmentation and lighter spots
- Tattoo Removal: breaking down brighter tattoo ink colors, like red, orange and yellow

The OLA Experience
Consultation
Every treatment at OLA Aesthetics begins with a detailed consultation. When we meet with you in person, we can closely assess your skin and talk to you about whether a laser treatment like ClearLift is appropriate for you. When making these determinations, we consider factors like your skin type and medical history, the current condition of your skin, your goals, and your schedule. Based on this, we provide a treatment plan that is customised for your skin and your concerns.

Preparation
There is minimal preparation with treatments such as ClearLift, but you may be asked to avoid certain skin treatments, products or medications in the days leading up to your session. Limit sun exposure several weeks before your appointment since UV light can increase the sensitivity of your skin to laser devices. We will let you know if there are any other specific pre-instructions you need to follow.

Treatment
We move the ClearLift handpiece across your skin in a systematic pattern to treat the entire surface. You will feel warmth and possibly a light snapping sensation as the laser pulses. This is tolerated well by most patients without anaesthesia. The session can take as little as 20 to 30 minutes for smaller areas.

What Is the Average Downtime and Recovery?
ClearLift treatments offer the benefit of a lower-downtime treatment. Because the laser energy is delivered beneath the surface of the skin rather than removing it, visible signs of the treatment are usually minimal. However, you may experience some flushing and warmth of the skin right after your session as your body begins to respond to the laser. You can return to normal activities the same day, but plan to adjust your skincare routine in favour of gentle cleansers and moisturisers rather than actives or exfoliating products.
What Results Can I Expect From My Alma ClearLift Treatment?
We use Alma ClearLift to promote gradual improvement in skin texture and tone. You may notice some tightening right after your treatment due to existing collagen contracting in response to the heat of the laser. Most of your results will come as new collagen is produced. This can take several weeks, or it may take multiple sessions to see your final results.
Alma ClearLift FAQ
Comfort can vary depending on the treatment area and your sensitivity levels, but discomfort is usually minimal. If you are concerned about how it might feel, this can be discussed during your consultation, and adjustments can be made if necessary. Most patients tolerate the treatment without a topical anaesthetic.
Non-ablative laser treatments like ClearLift carry a lower risk profile than fully ablative lasers, but some side effects are still possible. In addition to temporary redness and warmth, there may be swelling, darkening of pigmented spots or slight flaking in the days following treatment. Less commonly, individuals may experience post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, particularly in darker skin tones. We will discuss these and any additional risks during your consultation.
Alma ClearLift is suitable for a broad range of skin types, including darker skin tones. It poses less risk of pigment disruption because it focuses on deeper tissue rather than the surface. However, it may not be right for everyone. We assess our patients on a case-by-case basis.
Most treatment plans include a series of sessions spaced a few weeks apart. For general skin quality, we may recommend three to six sessions initially, followed by periodic maintenance. The total number of sessions can vary based on the concerns being addressed, starting skin condition and how the tissue responds to treatment.
The cost of Alma ClearLift varies based on the treatment area and the number of sessions recommended. We discuss all costs during your initial consultation so you understand the full commitment before beginning treatment.
Could Alma ClearLift Be Right for Me?
ClearLift may be considered if you are looking for a non-ablative laser treatment that does not require downtime. You may be a suitable candidate if:
- You are in general good health with no active skin infections or open wounds in the treatment area
- You are not currently taking medications that increase photosensitivity
- You have not had recent sunburn or tanned in the area to be treated
- You are not pregnant or breastfeeding
- You have realistic expectations about the potential outcomes and understand that multiple sessions may be required
ClearLift is not recommended for individuals with certain medical conditions that affect healing, or for those with a history of keloid scarring. If you are undergoing other cosmetic treatments or have recently used isotretinoin, timing and suitability will need to be discussed before your treatment.
