Transgender Hair Restoration

Hair that reflects who you are.

Hair sits close to identity. A hairline, a beard, the shape of a brow: these are the details people read first, and when they don't match how you see yourself, it is felt every day. At OLA Hair, our registered doctors offer gender-affirming hair restoration using follicular unit extraction (FUE), whether that means softening and lowering a hairline, building facial hair, or restoring density where it has been lost.

Every consultation is private, every plan is your own, and every step is guided by the same integrity and discretion that defines everything we do.

A Note from Dr Indi

I know that walking into a clinic can take more courage for some people than for others. If you have had the experience of explaining yourself before being listened to, I want you to know that is not how it works here.

You will be met with honesty first, and with respect throughout. We will talk about what you want to change, and I will tell you plainly what is achievable, what is not, and whether now is the right time. Sometimes the most useful thing I can say is wait, because your hair is still changing and you deserve a result built on solid ground rather than a guess.

More than anything, I want you to feel the same comfort and trust that OLA was built on. I look forward to welcoming you.

Your restoration, step by step

From your first conversation to your final result, every stage is handled by our medical team with care, clarity and discretion.

Consultation and assessment

Your journey begins with a private consultation with an OLA doctor. We talk about what you want to change and why, then assess your scalp, hair, donor density and, where relevant, where you are in your hormone therapy. Nothing is assumed, and nothing is rushed.

A design shaped to you

Together we map the result: the hairline shape and height, the beard line, the density, the areas to prioritise. Your donor supply is finite, so it is directed where it will do the most for how you want to be seen. Nothing begins until the design is right.

The procedure

On the day, the treatment area is comfortably numbed with local anaesthetic. Individual follicles are extracted from your donor area using FUE and placed with precise control over angle, depth and direction, with finer single-hair grafts along the edges so borders look soft rather than drawn.

Recovery and aftercare

You will leave with clear, tailored aftercare guidance. Tiny crusts form around each graft and settle within about 7 to 10 days, and mild redness or swelling early on is normal. Transplanted hair sheds before regrowing, which is expected rather than a setback, and we stay in contact through your follow-ups as growth develops.

Is hair restoration right for you?

Hair restoration suits people in good general health who have a sufficient donor area and clear, realistic expectations of what surgery can achieve. Where you are on your journey shapes the answer as much as your hair does.

If you are early in hormone therapy, waiting is often the better decision, because your hair is still responding and a plan built now may not fit the face you have in a year. If your hair has settled and the shape you want is clear, a transplant can be a strong option. If your goal can be reached without surgery, we will say so.

Suitability is a medical decision, not a checkbox. We will always recommend what genuinely helps, and if a transplant is not the right path for you, or not the right path yet, we will tell you.

Not sure where you sit? A consultation is the clearest first step.

Results, and the timeline behind them

ATransplanted hair sheds within the first few weeks, which is an expected part of the process rather than a setback. New growth typically begins from around 3 to 4 months, with results maturing over roughly 6 to 12 months as the follicles settle and thicken. Depending on the scale of the change you are after, more than one procedure may be part of the plan, and your doctor will be upfront about that from the start.

Individual results vary. Your doctor will discuss what you can reasonably expect based on your own hair and goals during your consultation.
