Laser Hair Restoration

Fotona HAIRestart® is a non-invasive laser treatment that uses gentle, controlled pulses of light to warm the scalp and stimulate the follicles you still have. There is no blood draw, no injection and nothing introduced into your body. You walk in, sit through a short session, and walk out and get on with your day. It is delivered by our registered doctors in our West Perth clinic, and like everything we do, it is only recommended when it is genuinely the right fit for you.

A Note from Dr Indi

A lot of people put off doing anything about their hair because the options sound like more than they are ready for. Needles, blood, surgery, recovery. They wait, and while they wait, the hair keeps thinning.

Laser appeals to me for exactly that reason. It asks very little of you. There is nothing to recover from and nothing introduced into your body, and for the right person, at the right stage, it can quietly do good work.

What it will not do is perform miracles, and I will not pretend otherwise. It supports follicles that are still there. It cannot bring back what has gone. So you will be met with honesty first, and I will tell you plainly whether this is the treatment that will help you, or whether something else would serve you better.

More than anything, I want you to feel the same comfort and trust that OLA was built on. I look forward to welcoming you.

What laser hair restoration can help with

  • Early to moderate thinning supporting follicles that are miniaturising but still active
  • Increased shedding helping to settle hair that is shedding more than it should
  • Scalp condition improving the environment the follicles sit in
  • A widening part adding support where density is dropping along the part line
  • Diffuse thinning where loss is spread across the scalp rather than patterned
  • Eyebrows the protocol can also be applied to sparse brows, where suitable
  • Alongside PRP the two work differently and can be combined where your doctor recommends it
  • Alongside a hair transplant supporting the hair around a transplanted area

What laser hair restoration is, and what it can realistically do

Fotona HAIRestart® works through Fotona SMOOTH® pulses, a patented non-ablative mode that delivers laser light to the scalp as precisely engineered, mild thermal pulses. The scalp is gently warmed in a safe and controlled way, without breaking the surface of the skin. The intention is to stimulate follicles that have become dormant, support those still active, and improve the condition of the scalp they sit in.

The appeal, for many people, is what it does not involve. No needles. No blood taken. Nothing injected. No recovery. If the idea of a treatment that requires none of that is what has kept you from doing anything at all, this is a reasonable place to start.

But the same honest limit applies here as anywhere. Laser stimulates follicles that are still present. It cannot create hair where the follicle is gone, and it will not restore a bald crown or a receded hairline. It is a treatment for hair that is thinning, not hair that has been lost.

It also works as a course rather than a single session, with ongoing maintenance to hold the result. We would rather you understood that at the beginning than discovered it later.

Your laser treatment, step by step

From your first conversation onwards, every stage is handled by our medical team with care, clarity and discretion.

Consultation and assessment

Your journey begins with a private consultation with an OLA doctor. We assess your scalp, your hair and the pattern of your loss, and we look into what is actually causing it. Laser is only worth doing if it addresses the right problem, so the cause comes first.

Your session

You sit comfortably while the handpiece is passed over the treatment area, delivering the laser pulses to your scalp. There is no numbing required and nothing to prepare for. Most people describe a mild warming sensation and nothing more. A session is short.

Afterwards

There is no downtime. You return to your day straight away. Some mild dryness or warmth in the treated area can occur and settles quickly, and you will be given clear aftercare guidance.

Your course

Laser works cumulatively, so your doctor will map out a course of sessions and explain what maintenance looks like from there.

Is laser hair restoration right for you?

It suits people with early to moderate thinning, where the follicles are still active and there is something to work with. It is a particularly reasonable option if you want to do something about your hair without needles, injections or downtime.

It is not right for everyone. Where hair loss is well established and the follicles have gone, laser cannot bring them back, and we will say so rather than sell you a course that will not deliver. If there is an underlying cause driving your hair loss, treating that comes first. And if a transplant is the better path, that is what we will recommend.

Because the laser is non-ablative and its wavelength is absorbed primarily by water in the tissue rather than by pigment, it can generally be considered across a range of skin tones. Your doctor will confirm your suitability at consultation.

Not sure where you sit? A consultation is the clearest first step.

Results, and the timeline behind them

Laser hair restoration works gradually and cumulatively. Change tends to build across a course of sessions rather than appearing after any single one, and results are maintained with ongoing treatment rather than being permanent once achieved.

Individual results vary, and it does not work for everyone. The research into laser stimulation for hair loss is still developing, and your doctor will give you a realistic view of what it can and cannot do for your hair specifically, rather than a promise.
